Linen pants are an excellent staple to have in your wardrobe if you’re a woman looking to keep things casual. They’re incredibly comfortable, they breathe well, and they look great with almost any kind of shirt or tee shirt underneath. That said, not all linen pants are created equal, so it’s important to learn how to purchase quality linen pants before you go out and get something that looks great at first glance but then falls apart after just a few washes. We’ve put together five tips for purchasing quality linen pants below. Take notes!
1) Understand what linen pants are
First things first, you need to know what linen pants are before you buy linen pants online in Australia. Before choosing a pair of linen pants, you must understand how they differ from other types of pants.
You don’t want to purchase pants that look similar but don’t act alike! Linen pants are lightweight and breathable—they’re made with fine-stranded yarn that allows air to pass through easily. These qualities make them ideal for warmer weather and can make them less durable than denim or cotton.
2) Know the different types of linens
One of the biggest things you’ll want to consider when buying linen pants is knowing exactly what kind of material you are getting.
You’ll want to know that your pants are actually made from linen, and not just a subpar fabric with a similar feel and look. Consider these 3 different types of linens: 100% linen, 50/50 cotton/linen blend, and 100% cotton blends.
3) Look for quality stitching
While high-quality pants will probably last you several years, how many times have you found yourself running to replace a cheap pair of trousers because they began to fall apart after just a few wears? If quality stitching is what’s important to you when purchasing your linen pants, make sure that they’re made of 100% linen and 100% cotton.
No blends. Pure cotton is highly breathable and resistant to tear, while 100% linen doesn’t stretch out or lose its shape.
4) Examine fabric weight
When shopping for quality linen pants, examine the fabric weight. The less a fabric weighs, typically, it means that it is more transparent and will not offer as much protection in inclement weather. A heavier linen pant will be more durable and provide better protection.
5) Check out pocket quality
A quality pair of linen pants will feel sturdy and strong. Instead of flimsy pockets that rip easily, look for pants with pockets that are well-constructed, sewn firmly onto to pants, and secure at all angles. The pocket material should be thick, heavy and rigid. You can double check by placing a pen or other hard object in each pocket—if you can fit your finger in comfortably next to your object, you’ve got great pockets! If the material is thin, loosely woven, or limp, move on.
If the design has belt loops and buttons: Look for buttons that have been solidly attached to the fabric; they should not slip around when fastened. Belt loops also need to be securely fastened as well so they don’t loosen over time.
