Getting started with cannabis oil and CBD products

What is CBD?

You’ve probably heard of CBD, but what does CBD mean and is CBD legal in the UK?

Here we’ll explain what it is and why you might want to introduce a CBD supplement or CBD extract to your wellness or skincare routine.

CBD is the acronym for Cannabidiol, a natural compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD is legal in the UK as long as it is extracted from industrial hemp, which is also legally cultivated across Europe to produce hemp seeds used in food and drink and fibres for material. Hemp is a type of cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive component of cannabis. This ensures you cannot get ‘high’ from CBD for sale.

Many of our CBD products are natural and organic because they contain CBD derived from organically grown hemp plants. We also collect lab test reports to confirm THC levels are below the legal limit. We stock a wide range of CBD products – from tampons and skincare products to teabags and snacks. You can try sprays, oils or balms to see what works for you – buy CBD both on our website and in-store.

What does CBD do?

We know CBD affects our Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is responsible for regulating our emotions, metabolism, memory, motor control, immune function and response to pain. It’s a relatively new and exciting field of research – scientists are continually conducting CBD studies to understand what it can do to our physiology.

So, what does CBD do to you?

Currently CBD uses range from therapeutic to cosmetic, with many potential health benefits dependent on your individual ailments and needs. Many people use CBD oil to relieve the feeling of anxiety, whilst other CBD effects may include an improved mood and sleep quality. CBD may also help with skin issues such as acne and psoriasis.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

CBD and CBD products are legal in the UK (CBD is classified as a food supplement), as long as it doesn’t contain the psychoactive chemical compound THC. THC and CBD have many of the same benefits. However, THC can also be responsible for unwanted side effects which is why it is illegal in the UK and all CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC.
