Quick recipes like this ground beef and cabbage stirfry will help you stay on track when you have really busy weeks, or for days you don’t have time to cook. In fact, when you make this bacon burger cabbage stir fry, you can store it in the refrigerator and eat it as leftovers over a few days!

When I get busy, I often make quick skillet dishes with ingredients I have on hand. This is a fantastic meal-prep recipe as it makes about 8-10 servings. It will either feed a crowd or feed you all week.

Plus, it’s so delicious, you won’t mind eating it six days in a row!

Ingredients Needed For Bacon Burger Cabbage Stir Fry

This stir fry uses really simple and savory ingredients. Here’s a bit more about what I used.

Bacon

The bacon I use is Whole30 and paleo-friendly sugar-free pork bacon. It’s difficult to find locally, so I mail-order it from Wellness Meats. It’s pretty expensive, but I feel it’s well worth the cost.

You can also buy some delicious organic bacon from ButcherBox!

My husband and I love this bacon so much we buy a dozen packages at a time. They arrive frozen right to our doorstep in a boxed styrofoam cooler.

Ground Beef Or Venison

Most people would use ground beef in this recipe, but I have a freezer full of venison, so that’s what I used. Since venison meat is very lean, I had to add some avocado oil to the skillet when frying the vegetables.

Tip: If you still have venison left over, consider making some venison chili!

Garlic And Onions

Always use fresh garlic cloves and your favorite type of onions. Either yellow, red, or white onions will work fabulously in this recipe.

Cabbage

If you want to save yourself time, you can use a food processor to chop up a head of cabbage. Even easier, you could just use pre-shredded coleslaw mix.

Salt And Pepper

You only need enough salt and pepper to give the bacon burger cabbage stir fry the taste that you want. Have fun and use sea salt and fresh ground pepper for even more flavor.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

Quick Tips:

  • Use your favorite spices. If you want this to taste spicier, add some chopped and seeded jalapenos.
  • Adding more low-carb vegetables is a fantastic way to use up leftover produce in your refrigerator.
  • This is perfect for your meal prep! Store it in individual meal prep containers and then reheat it throughout the week.

How To Make Ground Beef Cabbage Stir Fry

All the exact steps are written in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, I have some additional tips and information for you.

Brown The Bacon With The Ground Beef

The very first step is to cook both types of meat. When you brown the beef with the bacon, you will infuse the meat with even more taste. It’s the best way to do it!

Then, set the cooked meat aside, but keep the grease in the pan.

Fry Garlic And Onion In Bacon Grease

Next, fry the garlic and onion in the bacon grease too. Keep sauteeing them until the onion is translucent.

Add Chopped Cabbage

After the garlic and onion are cooked, add the cabbage to the pan. Keep frying it until the cabbage wilts and becomes soft.

Finish With The Meat

Finally, add the meat back to the pan with the rest of the ingredients. Add some salt and pepper and it’s ready to eat.

I’d say this bacon burger cabbage stir fry is pretty similar to the popular low-carb crack slaw recipe. However, crack slaw typically uses grated cabbage and has Asian seasoning.

I debated whether to post this recipe because it is so basic and simple. You don’t have to be precise about the measurements, and you can modify them as you’d like.

Some might prefer using sausage in place of hamburger meat. I wouldn’t sub out the bacon, though. It really brings out a nice taste that complements the cabbage.
