Keto Low Carb Strawberry Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting

This easy recipe is a delicious strawberry flavored sugar-free cream cheese frosting that is the most perfect topping for all your low carb cakes and keto desserts! Our keto cream cheese frosting recipe is just 1 gram of carbs per serving and just 6 simple ingredients!

Is Cream Cheese Frosting Keto?

No, traditional cream cheese frosting is not keto friendly because it often contains powdered sugar and will spike blood sugar and kick you out of ketosis.

Our sugar-free frosting uses Swerve Confectioners which is a low carb powdered sweetener to make this delicious frosting perfect for those on a keto diet or low-carb diet.

Difference between Cream Cheese Frosting and Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting

Whipped cream cheese frosting is light and smooth, but have some structure to it that makes it more stable than typical whipped cream frosting.

Cream cheese frosting is a bit heavier and thick and not as light as whipped cream cheese frosting.

When it comes to light and airy desserts, like Angel Food Cake, whipped cream cheese frosting would be my preferred keto frosting.

Do I need to use Low Carb Confectioners Sweetener?

If you don’t have Swerve confectioners sweetener you can use a granulated sweetener of choice. I recommend placing the granulated sweetener in your food processor to make it finer and less grainy, if you plan to use it for this keto frosting.

Other low carb sweeteners that won’t spike blood sugar are Monk fruit, and Allulose. My Sweetener Guide and Conversion Chart explains all about different sweeteners and how much to use in recipes.

How to Make Low Carb Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

Full fat Cream Cheese-it’s best to have room temperature cream cheese instead of cold cream cheese as it mixes better.

Strawberries– We’ve used fresh strawberries but if you only have frozen be sure to thaw and drain them before using.

Heavy Cream– Heavy whipping cream is essentially the same as heavy cream.

Low Carb Confectioners Sweetener– this is powdered erythritol and I use the brand Swerve.

Berry Liquid Stevia

Berry extract or use vanilla extract

Salt

Directions

Step 1

Place the cream cheese and strawberries in a stand mixer or mixing bowl and blend with an electric hand mixer until combined.

Step 2

Add in remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Scrape sides of the bowl if needed to make sure it’s all mixed well. Taste and adjust sweetener if needed.

Step 3

Use immediately to frost keto cakes or low carb cookies or refrigerate until ready to use. You can also add this frosting to a piping bag and decorate keto cupcakes.

Ways to Use Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting

The picture above is of my Keto Strawberry Angel Food Cake recipe being posted tomorrow and this easy keto recipe is enough frosting to cover the entire cake!

Keto Carrot Cake

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Vanilla Wafer Cookies

Can I use another berry?

Yes if you don’t want to use strawberries you can swap them for any berry you like. If you don’t want to use any berries at all, you can remove them and keep the recipe the same otherwise. It will still be a perfect cream cheese frosting!

Could I add unsweetened cocoa powder?

Yes if you’d like to add a small amount of unsweetened cocoa powder, I would suggest no more than ⅓ cup to the cream cheese mixture. Taste and decide if you need more sweetener since cocoa powder can taste bitter.
