Seeking advice on weight gain

Good morning.

TL:DR; 1) Does rapid weight gain damage kidneys 2) Weight gain reaching plateau after gaining 6.5 kg (15 lbs) over 8 days. How do I gain more?

I’m a 49 year old male, 5 ft 7 in. Had always been skinny and up until 8 days ago my weight was going back and forth between 55 and 56 kg.

Over the past week I decided to try and put on weight and after 8 days I now weigh 62kg. My target is 70 kg, which is where I’d like to keep it.

For the first 3 days I was just eating a lot (I mean really a lot) and as fast as possible. I would shove food in my face to the point of wanting to throw up before I stopped. Even then I still tried to eat a bit more. I have never felt so full and bloated in my life. I had also been exercising between 45 mins to an hour a day, mostly focusing on my belly. I’m no exercise expert but my logic was I wanted all the extra weight to be distributed and not just go to my belly. From the 4th day onwards, I started taking a protein shake (between 20 to 40 grams per day). By the way, I always work out in the morning. I wake up at 5:30 am and mix my protein shake with milk (just one scoop ~ 20 grams). I wait until 6:30 before working out. Mostly abdomen crunches, weights, plank, squats, step ups. Some times I have a second protein shake at around 5 pm.

Since hitting 62 kg 2 days ago, my weight has not increased any further, even though I’ve eaten roughly the same amount daily. My workout sessions have been getting more efficient though ie doing more reps in one hour now as compared to 8 days ago.

While I’m extremely happy to hit 62kg (actually 63 but now back down to 62 over the past 24 hours), I’m also a bit worried. Will this rapid weight gain do harm to my kidneys?

Second question is after putting on about 6 to 7 kg, I seem to have hit a plateau. I’m trying to eat more but I just can’t. What should I do to reach 70kg ?
