Ingredients

Strawberries – I use frozen organic strawberries. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, I suggest purchase sliced frozen strawberries.
Pineapple – I use frozen organic pineapple chunks. If you can’t find frozen, then fresh pineapple with work fine.
Cucumber – I use a small peeled baby cucumber. If you can’t find baby or mini cumbers, use a 2-3 inch chunk of a regular cucumber. Cucumbers are tasteless in smoothies and a great way to add in a veggie without anyone knowing. You don’t have to peel it, but I do, so the color stays fruity.
Chia seeds – For added fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids, I toss in 2-3 tablespoons to every smoothie.
Unsweetened Coconut Water – Coconut is excellent for hydration and gives the smoothie a light, refreshing flavor.
For the healthiest smoothie recipe, purchase organic ingredients and make sure there’s no added sugar in anything.

Yes, you can use either frozen fruits, fresh fruit, or a combination of both when making smoothies.
If you use fresh strawberries and pineapple, you’ll need 1 cup of ice cubes to get a cold smoothie with a slushy consistency.
Frozen strawberries and frozen pineapple create a thick cold smoothie.
You sure can. Strawberry stems provide extra nutritional benefits and help with digestive problems.
You can, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Canned pineapple often has added sugar and the texture is mushy. For best results, use fresh or frozen pineapple.
Substitutions
Greek yogurt is excellent for additional protein. ⅓ – ½ cup of Greek yogurt is all that’s needed to increase the protein without adding a lot of extra fat and calories. Make sure to choose a low-sugar Greek yogurt like Siggi’s.
Add in ½ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract for flavor. A little vanilla goes a long way when trying to add another layer of flavor to the smoothie.
Blend in a ripe banana for additional sweet flavor and a creamy texture. Bananas are a staple in many smoothie recipes. I left it out of this strawberry pineapple smoothie because I wanted the other fruits to shine through. If you wish to prepare an extra sweet and thick smoothie, then throw in a banana.
Use unsweetened almond milk for a creamier texture. You can also use coconut milk or any favorite milk.
Use orange juice for an extra layer of refreshing flavor. Because of the added sugar, I don’t typically use orange juice in smoothie recipes. However, my daughter wanted to try it, and she loved it. For healthiest results, choose a natural organic orange juice and be mindful of portions.
Blend in additional nutrients with superfoods. One of the best things about smoothies is creating a delicious nutritional powerhouse by adding in superfoods. My favorite superfood are chia seeds, but there are others.

Prepare freezer smoothie kits – place all of the ingredients, except the liquid, into a quart-size freezer bag or mason jar and freeze. When you’re ready to make the smoothie dump the ingredients in the blender, add the liquid, and blend until smooth.
Refrigerate premade smoothie 1-2 days in the refrigerator. After you blend the ingredients, pour the smoothie into a mason jar, tightly place the lid on, and refrigerate. Give the smoothie a couple of shakes before drinking.
