When the weather is hot outside, I crave an ice-cold drink. My favorites are normally lemonade and, of course, this strawberry limeade!

The way the sweet strawberries combine with the tart lime juice is incredible. It is both refreshing and hydrating.

Cool refreshing drinks are one of my favorite ways to cool down in the summer, and this low-carb strawberry limeade really hit the spot.

In fact, this recipe tastes just like Sonic strawberry limeades – but without the sugar and carbs! Since you are making this at home, you can control how sweet or tart it is. So, make it taste exactly how you want it to.

Ingredients Needed For Low-Carb Limeade

When you want to make this refreshing drink for yourself, here is what you’ll need.

Strawberries

Try to use fresh strawberries for the best results. If you use frozen strawberries, it may taste more like a frozen slushie than a strawberry limeade.

Lime Juice

You should also use fresh lime juice in this drink recipe. Jarred lime juice can work in a pinch, but it won’t have the same zest or tart flavor.

Sugar-Free Sweetener

Use your favorite sugar-free sweetener in this drink! Concentrated liquids and powder sweeteners will mix in the best with the drink.

Add a little bit of sweetener first, and then slowly increase it until it tastes as sweet as you want it to.

Ice Water

You don’t have to use filtered or bottled water, but if your tap water has any kind of odd taste, filtered water will help the strawberry and lime taste even better.

On really hot days, I like to add a lot of ice! Make it as cold as you like.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

Quick Tips:

  • Use an electric blender. It’s just not possible to make this by hand. You need to puree the strawberries until they combine perfectly with the lime juice.
  • Save some strawberries and add them to your drink at the very end.
  • Garnish your drink with fresh slices of lime. It’s a beautiful drink that will taste as delicious as it looks.

For all the exact steps, scroll down to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, here are some extra tips that I hope help you out.

Puree Strawberries And Lime Juice

The very first thing you need to do is use a blender to puree the strawberries with the lime juice. Use a blender and mix them together really well to combine the sweet and tart tastes into one.

Mix With Sweetener

Add the sweetener after you puree the strawberries. This way, you can control exactly how sweet you make it. The limeade doesn’t need very much sweetener since the fruit already have a natural source of sugar.

Add Ice Water

Finally, add as much ice water as you need to fill up the pitcher. If you think the strawberry and lime taste is too strong, use more water.

Serve and enjoy a glass!

What To Serve With Keto Limeade

Since this is such a fruity drink, if you make yourself a snack, you’ll probably want something salty or savory.

I like to snack on raw veggies with a zesty ranch dip – it checks all the boxes! You might also like to munch on some chicken wings while you drink this limeade.

If it is really hot outside, I just enjoy a chopped cobb salad as a light lunch.

Definitely go for something light and refreshing!

Frequently Asked Questions About Keto Fruit Drinks

Here are a few questions people often ask about sugar-free limeade and other keto juice drinks.

Is strawberry puree keto-friendly?

By itself, strawberry puree (or any kind of fruit puree) is not keto-friendly as the juice from fruits is where all the carbs are.

However, this drink only has less than 3g net carbs per glass. The way I was able to keep the carbs low is by only using a small amount of strawberries in the large pitcher of the limeade.

Can you drink juice on keto?

You usually want to stay away from fruit juice on the keto diet. Plain juice (even unsweetened) is basically the sugary part of the fruit – without the fiber. Fiber is what lowers the number of net carbs.

It is okay to use a small bit of fruit juice to naturally sweeten things like other drinks. Just monitor how many carbs you are drinking.

How long does limeade last in the refrigerator?

This limeade will stay refreshing and delicious for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Can you turn this drink into keto freezer pops?

Yes, this is a fantastic idea! Use this exact recipe and pour the limeade into freezer pop molds. Then, you’ll have frozen desserts that are low in carbs.

What is the best kind of sugar-free sweetener to use in keto limeade?

I used SweetLeaf stevia drops because they dissolved perfectly with the rest of the drink. It’s also really easy to control how much sweetener you add when you are doing it one drop at a time.

That’s all there is to this refreshing drink! Customize it and make it your own, but I think you’ll enjoy it just like it is.
